There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to resource management.
At Climate Smart, we set ourselves apart by being uniquely participatory, iterative, and adaptable to each and every Nation we serve. This synergistic relationship not only benefits our partners, but expands Climate Smart’s ability to regenerate our own solutions.
We’ve created a 4-Pillar Service Model to build this versatility into the framework of Climate Smart’s operations.
CLIENT-CENTRIC
Empowering Indigenous Communities
All of the work we do is in support of our partner Nations, so the services we offer (such as industry negotiations, land surveying, engaging with the community, etc.) are done in a way that makes the most sense to each community’s priorities for their land and membership.
For example, we wouldn’t approach Elder consultations with one Nation using the same protocol accepted by another Nation. Our partners are complex and distinctive, requiring service plans tailored to their knowledges and traditions.

ECO and ECO-CENTRIC
Making Ecosystem Support Profitable
Whether it’s boreal forest, wetlands, or prairie, we possess the tools needed to maximize the economic potential of each partner Nation’s territory regardless of the ecological needs of the land area.
We have the capacity to conduct innumerable resource development and ecosystem management services, including but not limited to:
- Forestry, agroforestry, harvesting & planting, and timber sales;
- Watershed management and restoration;
- Carbon credits, habitat, and other offsets; and
- Eco-commodity sales like mineral, oil, gas, and rare earth deposits.
There is no expectation of our partner Nations to engage with all of the potential resource development opportunities their territory offers. The priorities of our partners become our priorities as well.
DATA-CENTRIC
Allowing Evidence to Guide Us
Climate Smart understands that information is power, and the land can tell us everything we need to know about how to take care of it.
We offer the best in data collection services, including but not limited to:
- Project area mapping using satellite imagery and LiDAR technology;
- Carbon sequestration measurements; and
- Administrative systems operations.
Leveraging data in a circular economy (more on this under “Intergenerational Solutions” [link]) enables informed decision-making, drives innovation, and supports the transition towards a more sustainable and regenerative economic model.
SYSTEMS-CENTRIC
Seeing the Forest for the Trees
Our systems-thinking approach (described in greater detail under “Thinking Together” [link]) is essential to Climate Smart’s service delivery because it allows us to consider the larger impact of every decision we make, and envision the entire lifecycle of our solutions and services particular to individual ecosystems and communities.
We foster an environment of collaboration and accountability among our team, stakeholders, and affiliates, and understand that our interconnectedness with our partners is our greatest strength.
